By taking this comprehensive approach, we specialize in different areas of Women's health, such as:
Infertility
Infertility is defined as not having become pregnant after one year of having regular sexual intercourse without the use of birth control. There are many reasons for infertility in women. Infertility acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and functional medicine combined have been used successfully in our clinic to improve fertility in both men and women. Our practitioners have advanced certifications in working with infertility in both women and men and we have helped hundreds of women get pregnant here at The Emperor's Medicine. Although our fertility patients can have treatments at any time in their fertility journey we suggest our three-month fertility program to prepare the body for pregnancy.
Amenorrhea
A lack of a menstrual period. This could be due to many reasons. What we see most commonly in our office is dysfunction with the reproductive organs. With our expert staff at The Emperor’s Medicine, we will find the root cause of the dysfunction and correct it.
Endometriosis
Endometriosis is one of the leading causes of pelvic pain and infertility. Many women with endometriosis have zero symptoms. According to The Mayo Clinic, symptoms can include painful periods, pelvic pain during intercourse or bowel movements, and very heavy periods. One thing you can do to help heal from endometriosis is to find a local acupuncturist who knows how to treat endometriosis. We have helped many women at The Emperor's Medicine with endometriosis regain their health using acupuncture and Chinese herbs. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs have been improving endometriosis-related infertility for centuries. Several herbal formulas have even been shown to shrink endometrial lesions in studies. Chinese herbal formulas are best when taken as customized formulas, which is why working with an experienced acupuncturist who can prescribe them is ideal. Try to work with an acupuncturist six to 12 weeks before an IVF if possible, to really reap the benefits. These tools help your body calm inflammation, improving body chemistry, so the eggs in subsequent cycles can be their healthiest and not as damaged by the impacts of inflammation.
Menopause
Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and functional medicine combined are very effective in easing the transition to menopause. All are beneficial in treating hot flashes, mood swings, night sweats, insomnia, weight gain, and balancing hormones. We have over 17 years of experience in helping women with hormonal imbalances due to perimenopause and menopause.
IVF Support
There has been much clinical research on the effectiveness of using acupuncture with IVF increasing the success rate by 50 percent. Increasing blood flow to the ovaries during the stimulation phase of IVF improves the effectiveness of the drug.
PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)
PCOS is a hormonal disorder that impacts millions of women and is a common cause of infertility. Women with PCOS do not ovulate, they have irregular periods or no period. At The Emperor’s Medicine, we treat many PCOS patients by stimulating ovulation and regulating their periods using acupuncture, functional medicine, Chinese herbal formulas, and dietary suggestions. These treatments have been very successful for our patients.
Uterine Fibroids
Uterine Fibroids are benign uterine growths of smooth muscle. Women with uterine fibroids usually have heavy periods that last more than a week, abdominal cramps, spotting or bleeding in-between periods, and difficulty emptying the bladder with larger fibroids. We are seeing an increasing number of women at The Emperor’s Medicine with uterine fibroids and we find acupuncture and Chinese herbs to be very effective in shrinking small fibroids and regulating the menstrual cycle.
